Ayurveda has been a part of the Indian culture
from centuries. It uses varieties of herbs and other medicinal plants to cure
different range of diseases. Ayurveda is derived from Sanskrit, which means
life and knowledge. It is a holistic approach that concentrates on your entire
body which includes steps like special diet, specific medicines that are herbal
and Ayurveda, massages, relaxation techniques like meditation and yoga,
cleansing, etc.
Ayurveda and Cancer
Although Chemotherapy and other kinds of
medicinal treatments are known to help cancer patients survive, there have been
many cases where Ayurveda has also helped improve the quality life of patients
with cancer. Alongside English medicine and surgeries, Ayurveda is known to play
a soothing effect to the side effects faced by those who are terminally ill. But
sometimes, it can also interfere with the other methods which in turn can be
more harmful for your health.
Usually through Ayurveda, patients resort to
massages and aromatherapy to relax their suffering bodies and cope better with
the chemotherapies. Some herbal plants are also known to have cancer treating
properties that are very helpful for the patients.
What does the
procedure involve?
An Ayurvedic practitioner will plan your
treatment according to your complete medical history as well as body balance.
They will examine various parts of your body and will also find out your
emotional well-being as well. Bowel
cleansing, detoxifying, drawing blood, yoga, massages are all treatments that
will be suggested. Some research has suggested that many of these methods are
non- invasive and can lower levels of stress and help improve quality of life.
It helps people cope with the side effects of chemotherapy in a better manner.
There has not been any scientific evidence of prevention, cure or treatment of
cancer using Ayurveda and its medicines, but there is a possibility of further
findings if there are clinically approved trials.
