Nocancer treatment except emergency treatment is
started without discussion of the case and planning of the treatment by the
Tumour Board. The senior consultants of oncology exchange their views and
create a treatment plan that will be followed in future.
Diagnostic
Procedures –
There are many ways to diagnose cancer. After the
diagnosis, a second opinion is taken from an expert. Accurate identification is
necessary in cancer to choose the most effective treatment.
Radiation Therapy –
It is a non-invasive method of treatment which is
suggested to 50 - 60% of cancer patients. It is the most effective and least
traumatic among other treatments. It is combined with chemotherapy or surgery
for better results.
Surgery –
Surgery is the oldest treatment for cancer. It is
important for diagnosing and supporting cancer treatment. The type of surgery
depends on the type of cancer. Surgeries are used in combination with other
treatments for cancer.
Chemotherapies –
Chemotherapies and their side effects are managed well
by experienced medical centres. Chemotherapy consists of use of drugs to ease
the effects of cancer. Whether the dosages are normal or high depends on
individual cases.
Palliative Care –
If cure of cancer is not possible, palliative care is
given for the patient until the end of life. This assures the best quality of
