Types of cancers that women should be aware of

Types of cancers that women should be aware of

Though cancer is not a disease which is gender specific, there are some forms of cancer which are typically seen in women. Most of these cancer types are rather dangerous and the survival rate is rather low in most of the cases, apart from one or two, when diagnosed at the right time.
Here are some of the most dangerous types of cancers that women all around the world are fighting with these days:

  1. Ovarian cancer: This type of cancer, as the name suggests, is generally detected in the ovaries and are believed to originate somewhere in the fallopian tube. These are extremely hard to detect since most of the symptoms are related to post menstrual symptoms and are common in women who are above 50. When detected early, this can be completely cured and hence regular check-ups are very important.
  2. Cervical cancer: This is another dangerous cancer type which has a very low survival rate. This spreads very fast and it is more or less impossible to detect until you go for regular check-ups or when the cancer has progressed too far and spread to other areas. So regular check-ups are a must.
  3. Lung cancer: You will be surprised to know that women all around the world are mostly threatened by this cancer type. The survival rate is close to nil and there is hardly anything that you can do to keep this devil at bay. You can control your smoking since this has been listed as the primary cause.
  4. Breast cancer: Breast cancers when caught in the right time and operated can be cured. Watch out for bumps and lumps on your breast and get them checked up as soon as you find them.
  5. Pancreatic cancer: Almost undetectable, the survival rate is very low. Maintain a healthy lifestyle in order to keep this at bay.

These are some of the most dangerous forms of cancers that are typically affecting women around the globe.
