The follow-up care that every patient needs after a cancer treatment

Your body will undergo a lot of changes and will be dealing with a lot of stress post your cancer treatment. It is very important to remember that you cannot deal with all the stress on your own and you will need regular medical follow up care.

So how should you ideally regulate your follow up care? Here are some pointers that should help you along the way:

1. The first thing that you need to do after your formal cancer treatment gets over and your post-cancer begins is ask your doctor that how often you should check in with her/him. It is very important for you to schedule your post care follow up check-ups in order to keep your treatment in order.

The other thing that you will have to do is note down all the signs and symptoms that you are experiencing after the treatment, starting from feeling tired and worn to out to experiencing phantom pains. These are all effects of the treatment itself which can be taken care of by your doctor during the post care follow up appointments.
3. Patients who are recovering often experience this fear that the cancer might just come back. Well it is very important to stay positively charged during the recovery period and hence if need be you can also join a self-help group for some good counselling.
4. Always have your general physician on your speed dial. Let them know if you are experiencing any untoward symptoms so that you may get the immediate care and attention that you need.
5. It is very important to know which symptoms are the signs of danger for which you need to head to the emergency room. Ask your doctor what you should be looking out for and have a list of them with you at all times.
