Cancer is one of the deadliest diseases that occur due
to abnormal cell growth that can spread or evade other body parts depending on
the type of cancer. It is benign or malignant. The signs of cancer can occur at
an early or later stage with symptoms that include abnormal excessive bleeding,
visible lumps that exist for a prolonged period, sudden weight loss, sudden
change in movements of bowel, etc. These symptoms don't have to necessarily
occur all at once and any signs of doubt must be looked up by your doctor
immediately.
If you are diagnosed with Cancer, do not lose heart.
It can be cured if caught at an early stage. Here are a few common methods used
to treat cancer.
1. Chemotherapy
Cancerous cells are killed in this method, using powerful medicines or drugs. It does come with side effects such as hair loss, weakness, fatigue and vomiting sensation among many others, but it is also a very effective way to cure the disease.2. Surgical method.
Surgery is the process through which a surgeon will
remove the tumour or cancer growing in the body. There are many ways of doing
the surgery as well. Most often, it is done under general anaesthesia. Some methods are Laser, Cryosurgery,
Hyperthermia, etc.
3. Radiation method.
Radiation therapy as it is commonly called is the
method where radioactive elements or other radiations such as X rays at a
higher level is used to treat cancer which is possible by shrinking the tumour
or growth. Common side effect that one can have is weakness or tiredness. There
is external method as well as the internal method of Radiation Therapy.
4. Hormone Therapy.
This is most often used during breast cancer, prostate
cancer, etc. In this method, the cancer that uses hormones to grow is stopped
or slowed down. It is also called as endocrine therapy.
