Dichloroacetate or DCAis a synthetic chemical that is used
in cosmetic and clinical industries. Commercially, it is available as a
cauterizing agent. This means DCA burns the skin. It became popular in 2007 soon
after a Canadian study proposedthat DCA can reverse cancer growth. Some
experimental treatments have showed positive results, but DCA is still not proven
safe or even effective for cancer treatment. It is also still not approved by
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for cancer treatment.
It is suggested that until any further researches are
done, DCA is not recommended for use as an alternative cancer treatment. Also,
pharmaceutical-grade DCA is not available easily for the general public. It is
not safe to be administered alone for any purpose.
What is dichloroacetate?
DCA is used in medical and cosmetic industry as a
cauterizing agent. DCA is effective for cosmetic treatments in removing ingrown
nails, calluses, hard and soft corns, cysts, warts, tattoos and so on. It is
also being studied as a potential treatment for diabetes, cancer and familial
hypercholesterolemia. It is also used as a clinical
treatment for congenital lactic acidosis. Some
studies have also showed that DCA ineffective
against some forms of cancers like colon cancer. In fact, in some cases it has
accelerated the growth of the cancer.
Buying legitimate DCA online may be possible, but it
is not recommended. This is because FDA has not approved it for cancer
treatment. There are also cases of counterfeit DCA being sold online, so you
will have to be very careful and ask the advice of your doctor before you buy
any treatment or products for cancer.
DCA has certainly showed hope as an alternative cancer
treatment. But, until it is proven nothing can be confirmed. It is better to continue
with traditional forms of treatments like chemotherapy if you have cancer.
